Do you know the wake you are leaving as a leader?

What do I mean all leaders leave a wake?

It means whether we like it (or know it) or not the bow of leadership is broad and powerful.

Every day it culminates through people’s experience of us, every decision we make, how we make it, what action we take and do not take, what we say and don’t say, how we say it…it all leaves a wake, a leadership legacy.

So what is the wake you want to leave?

One of mine is the insight, support and tools for women leaders to manage the double bind – that tension between our likeability and competence, specific to women leaders. It is a reality at this time of our social evolution where ‘think leader; think male’ remains stuck in our minds. But it is not insurmountable and becoming skilful at managing this tension means the wake we leave for the women coming behind us will provide a wave they can ride with both skill and joy.
